New HD on Sky Italia
While Sky Cinema HD+24 stopped broadcasting, 3 new HD channels have joined Sky Italia: Sky Cinema Max HD, Sky Cinema Hits HD and Discovery HD. All of these channels are broadcast with English AC3 soundtrack, including Discovery HD, which, however, seems to be also broadcasting upscaled content. Settings updated.

Canal9 Danmark on Thor
Canal9 now broadcasts from Thor at 1°W. The good thing about Canal9 is that they show Conan and something for the football fan as well. Too bad it's subtitled in Danish. Canal9, not to be confused with Kanal9, is owned by C More, the same company that runs Canal+ in Scandinavia. Settings updated.

Telemicro on MV Latino
Multivision Latino (24,5°W) have added Telemicro from the Dominican Republic to their channel lineup. This is going to sound strange but this channel actually broadcasts domestic commercials and Hollywood movies. Furthermore, Telemicro is currently broadcast FTA. In my opinion this can't last long. Even if it does last, the whole Multivision Latino package is going to be encrypted using Irdeto. Is it just me or are they copying Antena3 and Univisión logos? Settings updated.

Showtime/Orbit merger
The first steps of the Showtime/Orbit merger are already taking place. Since this moment, Showtime customers can watch Super Comedy, Super Movies and America Plus. These channels have started on Nilesat (11862 V, 27500, 3/4 - easy to receive), encrypted in Irdeto. On the other hand, Orbit customers have gained Show Comedy, Show Series, Show Sports 3, Show Movies and E! Entertainment. That means that Orbit subscribers can now watch The Daily Show and Colbert while Showtime subscribers now get Conan, Fallon and Kimmel. Letterman is on MBC4, by the way:) New subscription packages will be introduced on August 1st. We'll see how this turns out. New HD channels are promised, but, on the other hand, Pay-TV mergers are generally a bad thing. Just remember some of the great Vía Digital channels we lost after the CDS/Vía merger.

Televisa Networks at 24°W
Televisa Networks will soon cease to broadcast from Intelsat at 43°W and will continue only at 24,5°W, together with Teuve and Multivision Latino. All 6 Televisa channels are currently testing on this new satellite. Although the reception conditions might now be easier accross Europe, the video quality has been drastically decreased to 352x576 (Telehit, Ritmoson, De Película, Clásico TV) and 480x576 (Telenovelas, Canal de las Estrellas) screen resolution in order to compensate for much lower capacity. Also the FEC ration has moved up to unfavorable 7/8. The entire package is currently broadcast FTA but is expected to be encrypted using Viaccess (ID 022200).

Sky Germany settings
Sky Germany is now officially on air. Even though it's a sad small package in comparison with its Italian and British counterparts, some improvements came along. The main one being 5 new HD channels (History, NatGeo, Disney, Eurosport and Sky Sport).

On the downside, only 2 of the new HD channels (Sky Sport HD and Disney Cinemagic HD) are broadcast with English audio track (even though History HD is currently broadcast in English) and generally speaking, Sky HD has nothing to offer we haven't seen somewhere else already.

The HD channels are encrypted in Nagra (1833) and Videoguard (09C4), other channels also in Betacrypt (1702).

Settings updated.

FX, BET HD, Redlight, Hot
Here's another July changes roundup. All of these changes are included in the newest E2 settings.

*Hot has replaced Venus on Hispasat. XXL has left TV Cabo as well and will be replaced by Hot Nights.
*Freesat is testing BET HD on Astra2, FTA (in HD, 12726 V 27500 2/3).
*FX is testing on Digiturk (11554 H 27500 3/4).
*Redlight channels have ceased on Eurobird 9 and Redlight Premium has started on Hotbird (11411 H 27500 5/6). Why premium you ask? Well I guess because it's broadcast in 544x576 screen resolution.

Sky Germany settings will be updated after midnight.
