1°W WEST

There's no need to say that 1°W is a great spot for some fine television. 1°W offers many channels, almost all of them in original language and those best ones are without any fixed subtitles (Canal+, Kiosk).

Canal Digital uses the most of 1°W's capacity. Many of you may still remember Canal Digital channels from D2-MAC transmissions. All of them are encrypted in Conax. Canal Digital could be compared with any other Canal+ package (or 30°W), with the difference, that many channels are broadcast for 4 different countries and therefore are in English and have no fixed subtitles. Thanks God for nations that don't dub.

Three movie channels (Canal+, Canal+ Yellow and Canal+ Blue) are showing actual movies, in original screen format and original language. The picture quality is very good (704x576), but shown movies are rather old. In addition, Canal+ 16:9 DEMO can now be seen on the Canal+ Zap channel. 16:9 means that all films are broadcast in widescreen format (not letterboxed).

Now something about the Pay Per View. Well, 21 PPV channels... sounds great, the movies and musical events are not bad at all, BUT (and it's a BIG SERIOUS BUT) -- the picture quality SUCKS BIG TIME! Do not even try to compare Kiosk (352x576) with Ticket (720x576). Take a look at the picture below and notice those ugly edges. But an OK goes to Kiosk 9, 10 and 11, for showing quiet a good selection of adult movies.

But there's more for adults at 1°W, even though it's not anything exceptional - The Adult Channel and Private Gold (during late night hours only). When it comes to general entertainment, Canal Digital sure won't disappoint. Loads of entertaining channels can be found within this package (E!, TV2 Zulu, Kanal5,...). Most of them are local and therefore subtitled.

Fans of docummentary programmes won't be disapponter either. Canal Digital offers four versions of the Discovery Channel, then there's also Adventure One, National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet and Travel Channel.

Classic channels, such as CNN, MTV, VH1, Eurosport, CNBC, TCM, Fox Kids or Extreme Sports are there as well. If you like football, you'll enjoy the MUTV. Last, but not least, almost all national channels (SVT, NRK, DR, and some from Finland) can be found at 1°W too (some of them are not a part of Canal Digital).

What else is at 1°W? Music Choice, Slovakian mux (JOJ Tv, Musicbox) and Bulgarian mux, encrypted in Conax as well.

TV1000 is a classic - good movies. Ticket (PPV) sometimes shows good movies. Lack of documentary channels. Crappy PPV quality, otherwise you don't want to miss this one! What keeps me coming back to 30°W is SIC RADICAL and PLAYBOY IBERIA. Films on PPV are not so new, but very good. Via Digital offers good movie channels showing not so old classic - Showtime and Canal Star.
